WiGig Alliance Wireless Communications Future

WiGig Alliance
WiGig Alliance is a Wireless technology that can transfer data between 1Gbps to 7Gbps. 60 times more than WiFi. WiGig Alliance is a multi-gigabit communication technology which is an ideal standard for the use of streaming HD video so it can display full 1080 pixels of the PC to the TV via a wireless network.

What is WiGig Alliance ?
WiGig or Wireless Gigabit was first declared on 7 May 2009 and the full version (v1.0) announced in December 2009. In May 2010, announced the WiGig specification used by the WiFi Alliance and committing to work together in the expansion of wi-fi technology. While version 1.1 was released in 2011.
Sponsored of WiGig Alliance technology development by large companies such as Microsoft, LG, Dell, Samsung, Intel and Broadcom.

WiGig Alliance is actually no different from Wi-Fi devices in general but only the speed that differentiates. WiGig Alliance operated at 60GHz which allows a wider channel and supports super-fast transfer speeds. Not with Wi-Fi is only 2.4GHz and 5GHz. WiGig uses the Physical layer specification based on IEEE 802.11 so as to run at a frequency of 60GHz. In addition, WiGig Alliance is also implementing Protocol Adaption Layers (Pals) that support specific data and display that uses a 60GHz standard. Pals allows the implementation of a wireless network with a standard interface so that it can run directly on the network WiGig MAC and PHY.

WiGig Power Settings
By using WiGig, the two devices will communicate with other devices via a directional path and can set the time when they communicate. That is, when one device to communicate with each other, other devices can rest and conserve power, and vice versa. This capability allows multiple devices to precisely adjust the power management. It will be very useful in devices that use batteries.

WiGig Beamforming
By using a frequency of 60GHz, extra fast communication become possible but with such speed that there is a large propagation loss when making a connection that is higher than the network frequency of 2.4 GHz and 5GHz. But with the WiGig Beamforming can make adjustments in communication. Beamforming works by using directional antennas to reduce interference and to focus the signal.
