Microsoft Announced a Commitment to Follow Standard Patent of FRAND - The standards will guarantee Microsoft will not block the sale of other products because of patent issues. This approach, previously approved Apple and Cisco. Google is expected to follow. The patent standard called FRAND(Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory). These standards maintain company to check and avoid abuse of the patent.

With this FRAND, feuds expected to be more focused onthe patent. FRAND can prevent companies from monopoly because the ownership of Intellectual Property Rights. With FRAND, the company's first patent holder must make the product can be used by any company. That is, a product patent can be bought and developed by other companies, into new products. Dave Heiner, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Standards Group and Anitrust Microsoft Group wrote in his blog about this.

The standard in the IT industry is critical to the development of internet on mobile devices. Consumers and industry will suffer if another company to block other companies because of patent standards are essential. Apple, last week felt a blockage due to patent problems in Germany. Apple was forced to remove some products from online stores because they still hit the patents by Motorola.

This prompted Apple to write a letter to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to Europe as well follow the FRAND standard.

Microsoft in recent months have also talked with ETSI for the application of this FRAND standard. Microsoft has offers the view that the patent holder must first create a standard patent on reasonable terms and are not discriminatory for other companies.
